If you had to list all of the tools available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the timer would probably feature last (if at all!).
However, this handy stopwatch does have its uses if you give it a chance! Here’s how you can use the timer to create fun games and help you gain more Nook Miles.
Track fish, bugs & sea creatures caught
Once you purchase the timer, you can track the fish, bugs, and sea creatures you catch.
Why would you need this?
Well, if you’re looking to complete the Cast Master challenge or catch bugs for the You’ve Got the Bug challenge, you can confidently keep track of what you’ve caught.
You can set the timer for 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes, so you can commit as little or as long as you want to your Nook Miles endeavors.
Hide & seek with friends
That’s right, running around your island just got a lot more social.
Use your timer to play a good old hide-and-seek game with friends visiting your island.
With the four different time choices, you can choose a time frame that suits the number of people you’ll need to find!
Hold your own fishing & bug tourneys
Rather than waiting for the tourneys to come around each season, why not host your own?
The timer will show the same banner and countdown clock that you’d see in a tourney, and you’ll get the bug, fish & sea creature counters to keep track of what you’ve caught too!
Once your time is up, players will see the final count of what they caught in a chat bubble by their character (so there’s no chance of cheating!).
Where to buy the timer?
You can get your hands on a timer for 840 bells from the cabinet in Nook’s Cranny. It’s not available for customization, so what you see is what you get!
This tool won’t break so you won’t have to repurchase it, but be aware that, at 210 bells, it sells for a lot less than what it retails for.
How to use the timer
To use the timer go to your inventory, press ‘A’ when hovering over the timer and select ‘Set timer’.
You can then choose which time option you’d like to track.
If you want to stop your timer early, go back into your inventory, press ‘A’ on your timer and select ‘Stop’.
