If you’ve caught the farming bug, growing white pumpkins may be your next agricultural adventure. Yes, it is possible to grow white pumpkins – along with green, yellow, and orange ones too!
White pumpkins can be used to cook the Spooky Cookies recipe, in lieu of customization kits to create Monochrome items as part of the Spooky Series and for Turkey Day activities.
How do you get a white pumpkin in Animal Crossing?
Once planted, pumpkins will stay the same color throughout their lifetime (even if you dig them up and replant them elsewhere on your island).
If you’ve harvested green and orange pumpkins but finally want white ones, here’s how you can get your hands on some starts or ripe ones:
- During October you can buy pumpkin starts at Nook’s Cranny for 280 bells
- The colors are random so this will involve trial and error
- When Leif visits he sells pumpkin starts on occasion for 140 bells (much cheaper than our furry-retail friends at Nook’s Cranny)
- Again, the colors will be random so an element of trial and error will be involved
- Trade with friends for pumpkin starts or ripe white pumpkins which can be planted, harvested, and replanted once grown to create a color-coordinated pumpkin patch
During the main Halloween event on October 31st, there are also some alternative ways to get your hands on white pumpkins.
After you’ve received all the available Spooky Furniture recipes, you can get white pumpkins by:
- Giving candy to Jack (after giving him 2 candy pieces)
- Giving candy to villagers
Both Jack and your villagers may give you what you’re looking for in return for some candy.
What is the fastest way to get a white pumpkin in Animal Crossing?
The fastest way to get a white pumpkin is to buy pumpkin starts from Nook’s Cranny during October and get planting.
The only cap on how many starts you buy is how many bells you have to spend, so if you’ve got the money then it’s worth bulk buying.
If you’re currently playing outside the month of October, then time travel back to the previous October, purchase, and plant.
How do you grow white pumpkins?
There are two sets of instructions depending on whether your pumpkins are newly planted or post-harvest.
Growing newly planted pumpkins
Water your pumpkin starts as soon as they’re planted.
It takes 4 days until they’ll be ready to harvest so, in order to get the highest yield (3 pumpkins per plant), you should water them twice throughout that period with your watering can.
Growing pumpkins after their first harvest
Unlike their newly-planted counterparts, pumpkins that have previously been harvested only take 2 days to grow to full-harvest. As these pumpkins still need to be watered twice during their growing period, water them on both days to get the maximum yield.
Remember: if it rains, you don’t need to water the pumpkins!
How do you get white pumpkins on Turkey Day?
Pumpkins are used during Turkey Day for Franklin’s scrumptious Pumpkin Pie. Unfortunately, they’re not on sale during Turkey Day so you’ll have to rely on your own pre-stored or harvestable pumpkins.
Make sure you give yourself enough time to plant, grow and harvest before the event.
What is the rarest pumpkin color in Animal Crossing?
Despite their elusiveness, white pumpkins aren’t the rarest color of pumpkin. That title actually goes to the green pumpkin which is classed as “rare”, although not impossible, to come across.
