Daisy Mae, the small, snotty-nosed boar, is your go-to gal for all things turnips. But did you know she also hands out DIY recipes?
That’s right, Daisy Mae has a few recipes up her sleeve that she’ll happily part with – for the right price.
Getting recipes from Daisy Mae
There are four secret recipes available from Daisy Mae – the only catch is you need to buy turnips from her when she visits your island each Sunday.
The four recipes are cooking recipes, including either turnips or bamboo shoots as their main ingredients.
Some players received her recipes after buying one stack of turnips (there are ten turnips in each stack), while others only got them when they bought ten stacks (one-hundred turnips).
We recommend you buy 10 stacks to stand a better chance of getting the recipes.
After purchasing your turnips, you won’t receive the DIY there and then. You’ll have to wait until the next ACNH day when you should find a letter in your mailbox from Daisy Mae with the recipe attached.
After you’ve collected the four recipes, Daisy Mae will send you bamboo shoots which can be used to craft two of the dishes.
So if you’re on the hunt to increase your learned DIY recipe list, engaging with Daisy Mae and getting involved in the stalk market might not be a bad idea!
ACNH turnip DIY recipes
The four DIY recipes you can receive from Daisy Mae are centered around turnips and bamboo shoots. They are:
- Bamboo Shoot Soup – 2 bamboo shoots
- Jarred Bamboo Shoots – 3 bamboo shoots
- Kabu Ankake – 10 turnips
- Turnip Salad – 10 turnips, 1 tomato
There’s also the rustic-looking Senmaizuke barrel, which isn’t gifted by Daisy Mae but solely uses turnips for its creation (30 to be exact).
ACNH turnip recipes not working?
So you’ve got your recipes, and you’re ready to get cooking in your kitchen… but it says the recipes aren’t craftable as you don’t have the ingredients to make them. Don’t worry, we’ve been there too!
The issue is the number of turnips in one stack in your inventory, assuming you have sufficient turnips to start with.
To create any recipe that includes turnips, you’ll need to stack the exact amount the recipe calls for in your inventory.
Let’s say you need fifty turnips for a recipe; split the turnips into five groups of ten and then stack those five groups together to create fifty.
It’s long-winded and overcomplicated, but there we go!
When does Daisy Mae visit?
Once you’re ready to get involved in the stalk market – even if it’s so you can access the secret DIYs – you’ll need Daisy Mae to pay your island a visit.
You can expect our favorite (and only!) snotty-boar to be walking around your island from 5am until 12pm every Sunday.
Turnips can be bought for between 90-110 bells per stack of ten. The reason the stalk market is so lucrative in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is because one batch of ten could sell for up to 660 bells, meaning LOTS of profit on those turnips.
The stalk market rush doesn’t even have to stay limited to your own island rates; you can use dodo codes to visit islands where Timmy & Tommy are buying turnips for crazy prices to make your quick buck (or bell!).
Daisy Mae’s secret recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
With four secret recipes up for grabs, it’s worth getting involved in the stalk market. You can sell your turnips to become a bellionaire, or simply use them up in the recipes you receive from Daisy Mae.
Once you’ve received all four recipes, Daisy Mae will gift you bamboo shoots to help you create those culinary masterpieces.
