What does Gold Armor do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Gold Armor can be worn, used to craft a Robot Hero, or sold to Timmy & Tommy for a pretty good profit (more on that later).

Other than looking great, the armor itself doesn’t provide your character with any added benefits when worn; this includes protection from wasp stings, so don’t go shaking trees without a net, even if you’re wearing your Gold Armor!

How can I get a Gold Armor DIY recipe in Animal Crossing?

If you want to get your hands on the coveted Gold Armor, you’ll have to make it yourself using a DIY recipe. This recipe is pretty rare, but there are three ways you can stumble upon it:

  1. Message in a bottle – you know those corked glass bottles you find washed up on the beach? Well, the recipe could be hiding in one of these so be sure to check your shores every day!
  2. Villagers crafting – it’s a sunny day on your island but there are lights on in one of your villager homes; knock on the door and give your neighbor a visit. If you talk to them mid-craft they’ll give you the recipe for whatever they’re creating, and that could mean Gold Armor. Smug residents are more likely to hand out this recipe, so pay your smug neighbor a visit whenever they’re home.
  3. Balloons – Shoot down a balloon and the Gold Armor recipe may just fall at your feet. Although it’s not an exact science, red balloons are more likely to drop DIY recipes, but be on the lookout for any colored balloons on your island to be in with a (sling)shot.

What materials do I need to craft Gold Armor?

So you’ve got the DIY recipe and you’re ready to get crafting, but what materials are you going to need? All that’s required to craft Gold Armor is eight gold nuggets.

Remember you can start collecting the gold nuggets in prep for when you do finally pick up the DIY.

Once you’ve created your Gold Armor, you can also find DIY recipes for Gold-Armor shoes (4x golden nuggets) and a Gold Armor helmet (5x golden nuggets). As with all Gold Armor DIYs, they’ll need to be picked up from either message bottles, villagers, or balloons.

How much does Gold Armor sell for?

If you’ve managed to pick up a rare DIY and channeled opulence with GOLD ARMOR – congrats! But the end goal may not have been to look like a top-tier medieval knight, you may have had your eyes on the Bells prize all along. If that’s the case, you’re in luck:

You can sell your Gold Armor for 80,000 bells.

What DIY recipes use Gold Armor?

You can use Gold Armor in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to craft a Robot Hero; to do this you’ll also need a rocket, 30 rusted parts, 90 iron nuggets, and 10 gold nuggets to build your towering robot masterpiece.

Selling for 80,000 bells, it’s no surprise that so many of us want to get our hands on Gold Armor. As well as being worn, you can use Gold Armor to craft the humungous Robot Hero.

You can get your paws on Gold Armor by checking your message in a bottle on your beaches, talking to crafting villagers, or in a balloon present. Once you’ve got the DIY, you’ll only need gold nuggets to craft it.

And there you have it – happy crafting!
